- RE:
SB 813 and SB 1416
-
- I am
writing on behalf of my clients to thank you for the votes taken
yesterday on two important issues.
-
- As you
know, Senate Bill 813 removed the five-year limit on a Workers
Compensation premium discount for businesses with a certified safety
committee. Your vote
underscores the importance of workplace safety, something of critical
importance to Labor and Management alike.
It also gives employers a financial incentive to continue their
safety committees, again very important in these stressful economic
times. This was of key
importance to the York County Chamber of Commerce.
-
- The second vote was on Senate Bill 1416.
It affects the Pennsylvania Association of Health Underwriters
and the other two insurance groups. This legislation reforms the way
insurance agents and brokers are licensed in the Commonwealth and
brings Pennsylvania in line with 47 other states that have already
standardized licensing. Among
other things, this bill means that our insurance producers will be
able to compete on a level playing field as they write insurance for
those in other states.
-
- Your two
votes were very important to my clients, the Pennsylvania Association
of Health Underwriters (PAHU), the York County Chamber of Commerce,
SPARKS (an association of marketing representatives of Mutual
insurance companies - not
to be confused with PAMIC), and Russ Financial Schools, a provider of
Continuing Education to the agent Community.
-
- Again, I
very much appreciate your vote. A
great deal of sweat equity was invested by a great number of people to
promote those two bills. Thanks
to you, those goals are attained.
Have a happy Thanksgiving.
